Itinerary
Day 1: Umbwe Gate to Umbwe Camp
Start at the Umbwe Gate, complete formalities, and begin your trek. Ascend gradually through a rainforest on a 4WD path, leading to the “Umbwe Trail” sign. Traverse dense forest on a steep, occasionally muddy path to reach Umbwe Camp. (Distance: 11 km, Hiking Time: 5-7 hours, Habitat: Rain Forest)
Day 2: Umbwe Camp to Barranco Camp
The ascent continues steeply into the heath zone, revealing sparse vegetation, rocky outcrops, and giant heathers.
